An evening of poetry with Luke Wright, winner of the 2021 Saboteur Award for Best Spoken Word Performer. With support from local “Voices” poets Pam Flitt and Ivor Folio.
Wright’s third collection The Feel-Good Movie of the Year is out now from Penned in the Margins. Ian Duhig calls it a “a terrific new book: subtle, nuanced and movingly personal. A hurt man taking stock in fresh words.”
Luke will also be performing pieces from The Ballad Seller, in which he took the bawdiest and most entertaining Georgian street ballads and rewrote them for the modern ear.
“Luke Wright is one of the greats. A poetic pugilist. Beguiling and hypnotic.”
“His performances rumble with rage, passion and humour.”
Tunbridge Wells Poetry Festival in association with Kent & Sussex Poetry Society are delighted to announce a very special evening of spoken word, as the Salomon’s old science theatre plays host to Saboteur’s performer of the year 2021.
