In addition to his long list of TV and film credits, Henry Normal is the founder of the Manchester Poetry Festival (now the Literature festival) and co-founder of the Nottingham Poetry Festival.

Setting up Baby Cow Productions in 1999 with Steve Coogan, Henry executive produced all and script edited many of the shows created during his seventeen-and-a-half year tenure as MD. He co-created and co-wrote the first series of The Royle Family, as well as co-writing The Mrs Merton Show, Paul and Pauline Calf’s Video Diaries, Coogan’s Run and many more. In June 2017 he was honoured with a special BAFTA for services to Television.

Since retiring from TV in April 2016 Henry has written and performed six BBC Radio 4 shows combining comedy, poetry and stories about bringing up his autistic son. His new book The Escape Plan contains selected poems from his previous seven collections from Flapjack Press and provides the title for this current tour.
