Last year’s “Poetry Bathing” workshop was a hugely successful and popular event. We hope the weather will be as kind to us again this year as we once more explore the beautiful Ashdown Forest in search of inspiration.
For this workshop, led by resident poet Siân Thomas, participants will be encouraged to stroll in the area around Gills Lap and engage in a number of writing exercises to ‘bring out their earthy side.’
In addition to the tour and writing exercises there will be discussion and readings of published nature poetry both for pleasure and further insight.
Siân Thomas is Poet in Residence for the Ashdown Forest. She runs creative writing classes and workshops for both adults and children in Kent and Sussex. Her work has appeared widely in magazines such as Agenda, The Clearing, Poetry Wales, The Rialto, and Swamp, as well as in The Needlewriters and London Rivers anthologies. She is the author of two publications: Ovid’s Echo (2012), and Ashdown (2020), both published by Paekakariki Press.
PLEASE NOTE: This is an outdoor workshop in an area of outstanding natural beauty with uneven terrain. Accessibility is limited, and participants are advised to bring their own portable seating. Please contact Siân for specific details.
Date and time subject to change depending on weather.
All proceeds after Festival Costs will go to the Ashdown Forest Foundation.
