A practical workshop with Charlie Bell
Following on from last year’s successful workshop, we will write poems in response to the artworks displayed as part of this year’s South East Open Studios. This technique, technically known as ‘ekphrasis’ is a very useful and fruitful way of providing writing prompts.
Charlie Bell took his MA in Writing, The Arts and Education at the University of Sussex. He is a well-known poet and writing tutor and has been the Chair of the Poetry Festival for three years. Apart from local history books and writing and editing introductions to literary figures for Hodder & Stoughton, he now specialises in writing poems and short stories. He is a creative writing tutor for Kent Adult Education, runs his own writing tuition business, as well as working with the NHS and disadvantaged groups in the community.
